Reminder: Wage Subsidy Extension

Wage Subsidy Extension

Applications for the Wage Subsidy Extension close just before midnight on Tuesday September 1, 2020 (11.59pm).

The extension covers eight weeks worth of payment per employee.

The subsidy will be paid at a flat rate of:

  • $585.80 for people working 20 hours or more per week (full-time rate)
  • $350.00 for people working less than 20 hours per week (part-time rate).

The Wage Subsidy Extension will be paid to the employer as a lump sum. It must be used to pay employees’ wages and receiving it does not change existing employment law obligations.

The Wage Subsidy Extension is open to the same types of employers currently eligible for the wage subsidy.

Your business must have experienced a minimum 40% decline in revenue for a continuous 30-day period. The 30-day period must be:

  • in the 40 days before you apply (but no earlier than 10 May 2020)
  • compared to the closest period last year.

The decline must also be related to COVID-19.

Click here to access the Wage Subsidy Extension – scroll down to the ‘Fill out the online form’ title and identify whether you have people working for you, you’re a sole trader, a large employer, or a state sector organisation.

If you need any assistance in filling out this form, or have any pātai, call our business advisors on 0800 4 POUTAMA (0800 4 76 88 262).
