Tēnā koe
The New Zealand Māori Tourism Council has worked hard over the
past 6 weeks to bring you this year’s annual conference scheduled for
8/10 September in Rotorua.
Thus far, and despite our best efforts, the registrations are
significantly lower than we anticipated, requiring us to review this year’s
programme. We are aware of the number of tourism conferences currently
taking place. We feel that this, along with the current economic downturn
has affected the response rate.
We therefore regret to advise that the marae stay option offered on
the night of Monday 8 September and the Māori Tourism Expo, planned
for Tuesday 9 September, will no longer go ahead.
The programme of workshops scheduled for Monday 8 September for our
Māori tourism operators will proceed, and we will hold our dinner
that night (instead of the Tuesday night). The AGM for the New Zealand
Māori Tourism Council will now be held on Tuesday 9 September. The
amended programme is attached.
We will contact each of you directly to amend your registration or to
arrange a refund as applicable.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued
support of Māori tourism. We rely on each other to continue our
development and we assure you of our intention to stay focused on
developing high quality, sustainable Māori tourism operators in
order to add value to New Zealand’s tourism offerings.
Nāku noa, nā
Neville Forman

New Zealand Māori Tourism Council
